Terms of Service
The terms on which Mia Rees provides travel planning.
Last updated 26 July 2026
1. Who you are dealing with
These terms form the agreement between you and Mia Rees, a sole trader based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (ABN 57 760 085 732), who carries on business under her own name. Curated Travel by Mia is the name of this website. “I”, “me” and “my” mean Mia Rees; “you” means the person engaging me.
These terms apply from the moment you engage me. The version that governs your trip is the version in force when I confirm your engagement in writing.
2. What I do — and what I don’t
I provide travel planning: research, comparison, shortlisting and written itineraries, tailored to what you tell me you want.
I am not a travel agent. This matters, so to be unambiguous about it:
- I do not book, sell, resell or arrange travel products.
- I do not take payment for flights, accommodation, tours, transfers or any other travel product, and I never hold client money for travel.
- Every booking is made by you, directly with the supplier, at the supplier’s own price, under the supplier’s own terms and conditions.
- I receive no commission, kickback or referral fee from any supplier I recommend. My only income from you is the flat planning fee you agree to.
Your contract for any flight, room, tour or table is with that supplier, not with me.
3. Fees
Current packages and prices are listed on the home page and are in Australian dollars. I am not currently registered for GST, so no GST is charged.
The Grand Tour is quoted individually, within two business days of your enquiry. Any quote I give is valid for 30 days.
The planning fee covers my time and expertise. It does not cover the cost of your actual travel, which you pay to suppliers directly.
4. How an engagement runs
- You enquire. The first conversation is free and carries no obligation.
- I confirm scope and fee in writing, by email.
- You pay. A 50% deposit is payable to begin the work, and the balance is due on delivery of the final itinerary.
- I deliver a draft itinerary within 10 business days of payment and of receiving everything I need from you.
- We refine it, within the revision allowance for your package.
- I deliver the final itinerary as a formatted document.
5. Revisions
- The Long Weekend — a pre-made PDF plan. Revision rounds are not included.
- The Getaway — one full round of revisions included.
- The Grand Tour — unlimited revisions within the agreed scope.
Small tweaks are usually quick and I won’t nickel-and-dime you. Anything that amounts to replanning the trip — a new destination, new dates, a materially different budget — is new work, and I’ll quote it before starting.
6. What I need from you
The plan is only as good as the information behind it. You agree to:
- give me accurate details, including traveller names exactly as they appear on passports, correct dates, and a realistic budget;
- tell me about anything that affects the plan — allergies, dietary requirements, mobility needs, medical considerations;
- check and obtain your own passports, visas and entry requirements. I may flag what I believe applies, but requirements change and you must verify them with the relevant embassy, consulate or government authority before you travel;
- take out travel insurance. I strongly recommend comprehensive cover, and arranging it is your responsibility;
- check smartraveller.gov.au for current advisories for your destinations;
- book promptly. Recommendations reflect availability and pricing at the time I researched them. Both change, sometimes within hours;
- read and comply with the terms of every supplier you book with.
7. Things outside my control
Subject to section 8 below, I am not responsible for:
- the acts, omissions, service standards, cancellations or insolvency of any airline, hotel, tour operator, restaurant or transport provider;
- changes in price, availability or schedule after I deliver your itinerary;
- refusal of a visa or refusal of entry at a border;
- weather, strikes, civil unrest, natural events, public health measures or any other event beyond my reasonable control;
- losses arising because you booked late, or because information you gave me was inaccurate or incomplete;
- the content of third-party websites I link to.
8. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
My services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded — including that they will be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose I’ve been told about, and be supplied within a reasonable time. If I fail to meet one of those guarantees, you are entitled to a remedy under the law, and you may be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
Where the law allows liability to be limited, my liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee is limited to resupplying the service, or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
9. Limit of liability
Subject to section 8, my total liability arising from any planning engagement is limited to the planning fee you paid me for that engagement. I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, which includes the cost of travel you booked, missed connections, accommodation you couldn’t use, or loss of enjoyment.
This reflects what the service is: I sell research and a written plan, not the trip itself.
10. Cancellation and refunds
If you cancel: The 50% deposit is not refundable once paid — it reserves your place in my schedule and the research begins straight away. If you cancel before the final itinerary is delivered, the remaining balance is not payable. Once the final itinerary has been delivered, the fee is not refundable, because the work is done and delivered.
If I cancel: if illness or circumstances mean I can’t complete your plan, I will refund everything you have paid for work not yet delivered, and I will tell you as early as I can.
All of this is subject to your rights under section 8.
11. Intellectual property
Itineraries, planning documents, research and recommendations I produce remain my intellectual property. On full payment you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use your itinerary for your own travel and to share it with the people travelling with you.
Please don’t resell it, publish it, or pass it on for someone else’s commercial use. The text, design and photographs on this website are also mine and aren’t licensed for reuse.
12. Feedback and testimonials
I may ask whether I can quote something nice you said. I’ll only publish it with your permission, and I’ll use your first name and destination unless you tell me you’d prefer otherwise. You can ask me to take a testimonial down at any time.
13. Support while you travel
Where your package includes messaging support while you’re away, that is best-effort help during Melbourne business hours — rerouting a rained-out afternoon, suggesting an alternative when a restaurant falls through.
It is not a 24-hour emergency service. In an emergency, contact local emergency services, your travel insurer’s assistance line, or the Australian Government’s consular emergency centre on +61 2 6261 3305.
14. Privacy
How I handle your personal information is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
15. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The version that applies to your engagement is the one in force when I confirmed it in writing, so a change here won’t alter a plan already underway.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The courts of Victoria have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
